Leonardo.

Bridgerton: The Duke and I by Julia Quinn

A #1 New York Times Bestseller

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn comes the story of Daphne Bridgerton, in the first of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring the charming, powerful Bridgerton family, now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix.

In the ballrooms and drawing rooms of Regency London, rules abound. From their earliest days, children of aristocrats learn how to address an earl and curtsey before a prince—while other dictates of the ton are unspoken yet universally understood. A proper duke should be imperious and aloof. A young, marriageable lady should be amiable…but not too amiable.

Daphne Bridgerton has always failed at the latter. The fourth of eight siblings in her close-knit family, she has formed friendships with the most eligible young men in London. Everyone likes Daphne for her kindness and wit. But no one truly desires her. She is simply too deuced honest for that, too unwilling to play the romantic games that captivate gentlemen.

Amiability is not a characteristic shared by Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings. Recently returned to England from abroad, he intends to shun both marriage and society—just as his callous father shunned Simon throughout his painful childhood. Yet an encounter with his best friend’s sister offers another option. If Daphne agrees to a fake courtship, Simon can deter the mamas who parade their daughters before him. Daphne, meanwhile, will see her prospects and her reputation soar.

The plan works like a charm—at first. But amid the glittering, gossipy, cut-throat world of London’s elite, there is only one certainty: love ignores every rule...

This novel includes the 2nd epilogue, a peek at the story after the story.

Marjory Saves the Everglades: The Story of Marjory Stoneman Douglas by Sandra Neil Wallace, illustrated by Rebecca Gibbon

“Vibrant…an ideal starting point for further learning.” —School Library Journal
A lively portrayal of Douglas as a remarkable individual and a significant environmental activist.” —Booklist

From acclaimed children’s book biographer Sandra Neil Wallace comes the inspiring and little-known story of Marjory Stoneman Douglas, the remarkable journalist who saved the Florida Everglades from development and ruin.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas didn’t intend to write about the Everglades but when she returned to Florida from World War I, she hardly recognized the place that was her home. The Florida that Marjory knew was rapidly disappearing—the rare orchids, magnificent birds, and massive trees disappearing with it.

Marjory couldn’t sit back and watch her home be destroyed—she had to do something. Thanks to Marjory, a part of the Everglades became a national park and the first park not created for sightseeing, but for the benefit of animals and plants. Without Marjory, the part of her home that she loved so much would have been destroyed instead of the protected wildlife reserve it has become today.

ATHANOR: The Secret Science of the Heart (I Quaderni del Bardo Edizioni di Stefano Donno)

The time of our civilisation, which is only one of the possible civilisations, can be transcribed synthetically through the categories of thought that specified axiologically its structure and continually remodelled it. Passages never clearly marked, if anything connoted, by that “barbarian residue” which, due to a certain instinctual pertinacity, were painstakingly exceeded. The border between reality and appearance is always very subtle, we find it so, even today in the persistence of certain scientifically anachronistic expressions; let us say, for example, that the sun rises and sets, instead of referring to the horizon. We need some time to get used to something that differs from the perception that we had of the world that is, we need time to change. This, for what it’s worth, is what we believe. In fact, however, it is only the persistences that weaken our conscious presence, which, in turn, manifests itself in a wealth of forms commensurate with the capacity we have to intuit them. Every achievement is as if a new mental being is produced, almost incapable of empathy with the past self. Ultimately, the shift over time determines a change of perspective, by regressing in the memory, we lose the sharpness of the state of mind that led to the choice or for which we risked that move. We simply change our mind and this has the effect of no longer permitting us to be that which we once were. It’s as if they slowly vanish, all the humours or moods that we have experienced converge here - there is no other time and if every shift creates a different vision of the world, everything can be changed in a single instant.

The Future In A Nutshell by Chris Williams

Should Christians study eschatology--the part of theology concerned with death, judgment, and the final destiny of the soul and of humankind? What does the Bible say about End Times and how can laypeople learn about it without having to scale "Mount Prophecy" to get there? Biblical prophecy is the topic of countless books, many that are long and use theological language that often escapes the average, faithful member of a Bible-believing church. The Future in a Nutshell covers in simple language the basic tenets of Biblical eschatology, providing a useful overview about what the Bible teaches about the future.

Then There Was Rain by Atri Kundu

In this story of love and sacrifice, where Japan meets Kolkata and cherry blossom meets krishnachura, our protagonist will seek to find a home away from home and the answer to — Do we love someone because it is the right thing to do, or do we love them just because we do?

Kiyoshi Higa had grown to disbelieve the notions of love and happily-ever-afters. He never saw these working out in the end, not for him at least. But when his quest to seek a place to belong drove him south, from idyllic Okinawa to the City of Joy, he caught a glimpse of the home he never had in Agnimitra Sen a.k.a. Agni.

Agni was a steady flame and Kiyoshi embodied a turbulent ocean. She was the woman he could never end up with, and he was the scarred man no one would fall in love with. Yet, his eyes chased the cloud-shaped bird...what if...despite knowing how hope is the killer of reality, he loved and he hoped.

From Kolkata to cherry blossoms, from Okinawa to phuchka, from Rabindrasangeet to haiku – this is the story of a soul stranded at the crossroad of love and guilt – one step down the wrong path, and he will lose all that he held dear.

Perfect for fans of Nicholas Sparks and John Green, Then There Was Rain is at once a metaphorical ode to life, a journey of survival through hope, and a novella with the heartful expanse of an epic.

Thunder on the Plains: A Pecos Quinn Western Adventure by John Rose Putnam

In the 3rd Pecos Quinn Western, I tip my hat to Zane Grey, with deep respect. He showed us that even amid the savagery of the buffalo hunts on the Great Plains, romance could be found. And when Pecos and Andy set out to rescue Doctor Burns, who'd been treating the Comanche, they find a mother and daughter desperately in need of help, thus adding spice to a dangerous task.
