“Kate Askegaard received her BFA in Sculpture
in 2002 from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. After graduating, she worked
creating patterns and molds for planters and fountains and helped create the
ash urns in front of the Waldorf Astoria in New York City
, and planters at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago
Illinois. She then went abroad,
living in Ireland
. Upon return, she searched for a small town that had foundries and a strong
art scene and found Dixon ,
IL. She also found her husband,
Brad, in Dixon
and now has 2 step children and a son of thier own. Kate's work has been shown
at The Next Picture Show Art Gallery and won an honorable mention for a
pointillism drawing of John Lennon. Although True Love did not win in
ArtPrize2011 it was sold to Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. Since then She
has been busy with interviews, taping a T.V. episode for PBS, spending time
with her family. and working on great new art creations.”
